Let's all Pray For the Gulf Coast Residents

This oil well being capped is just the beginning of endless cleanups and even longer recoveries for all gulf coast residents that are and will be affected by the oil spill.

BP and the Government had said they are satisfied that over 95% of the oil has been cleaned up or contained in the Gulf. What some of us may not know is there's over 80% of Toxic oil still there. All the soap and detergents used to break it up just made the oil sink and turn toxic.

For the residents of the gulf, there hasn't been much comfort in what BP or the Government have said up to this point. They seem to have the impression that the people are satisfied with what has been done, the Problem they say is just beginning!

A Picture Say's a Thousand Words

All those people who rely on the Gulf of Mexico and all its coastlines for their livelihoods have no real choice on how they make there living. And now their left to rebuild their businesses that were destroyed by the oil covered shorelines and their tainted fishing grounds that were so crucial in their lives. Even where they considered a safe fishing area they still had trouble selling their seafood because consumers thought it might be toxic.

At Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana three Deputies were setting up New Olean Saints Football game garb along the fence at the Sheriffs office training center, planning for an annual employee's picnic. Guy Laigast one of those deputies said for him, news of the well nearly being plugged meant little or nothing to him.

They have an unbelievable amount still out there anyway he said, I don't think this will help much, there just trying to make it look like this will cure the problem, but anyone who lives here knows better than that.

For Tom Becker, a charter fishing boat captain out of Mississippi, hearing the news of the well- being dead is too little too late! His charter company has dropped down 60% with 35,000 to 40 thousand in lost revenue, and thats not counting future looses he said.

The phones just aren't ringing Becker said, I'm happy there going to cap the well, but the damage has already been done. Now the question is the future, how are we going to come back from this disaster, and what do we have to do to bring the people's back?

Is the Confidence there?

Aboard the Development Driller III , the ship that drilled that relief wells and allowed the crews to pump the cement for the plug - there was no celebrating heard.

It's kinda bitter-sweet because we lost 11 hard-working men out here," said Rich Robson, the off shore installation manager on the DDlll Vessel. "There will never be a celebration out here he said, the water out here to us and others is considered a sacred cemetery."

BP's well site leader aboard the ship, Tim Speirs,, said there would be no sirens or flashing lights once the job is done, he said most of the men would be sleeping at that time anyway.

The crew of the DDlll began finishing their work on Thursday, when the relief well intercepted the blowout well. The cement, which will plug the blown out well from the bottom - started flowing Friday. It had hardened by Saturday, leaving just the pressure test to do.

Until the test was done, men in bright red work suits and mud covered hard hats were operating heavy hydraulic machines being used to lift the drill pipe back to the main deck of the DDlll.vessel. Two men sitting in chairs used joysticks to move the massive machines on the deck, which were lifting the equipment that was thousands of feet below the oceans surface.

John Wright who led the drill team for the relief wells, said this was the 41st successful relief well drilled under his watch. He has never missed a target up untill now. Why they waited to call him in God only knows. He told the media that when he hit this one he was going to celebrate with a cigar.

In my mind its over already, it's been a long exhaustive process. Between the media attention with government involvement, the stress levels and pressure levels were overwhelming not just for me, but for my team. It's time for a vacation.....

Thanks Quill, if you had been keeping tabs on this on going problem. Between BP and the US Government, I truly believe they think its over. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! When the fact remains that between 60 to 80% of that oil is still there, and has turned toxic.

Blessings to you and family :)
